Note: Scope of Practice – The scope of practice describes the procedures, actions, and processes that a healthcare practitioner is permitted to undertake in keeping with the terms of their professional license. In most states, a physician assistant’s scope of practice is determined with the supervising/collaborating physician at the practice site, with state law guiding their decision. Many states are changing these practice acts to allow the physician to determine the scope of practice. Check with the medical board of each state as these laws are changing.
